Our aims in Mathematics are to try to develop the mathematical skills and understanding required for adult life and for use in other subjects. We aim to teach in ways that encourage co-operation and communication - skills that are challenging to all, and take time to develop. We know that a number will need support with their understanding and we aim to give them this at the appropriate level.
An extremely important element of Mathematics is that of developing investigational and practical skills. This encourages hands-on approaches and encourages children to think for themselves. Our Mathematics curriculum is based around the Primary Strategies. We also use a range of published materials to support children day-to-day. We hope that parents will support us through the completion of any tasks that are sent home.
